Sunday 25th August 2013 was the day that found forty members of the Parishes of Rhosllanerchrugog and Penycae making a journey of pilgrimage to Christ Church in Bala.  Thirty-two members boarded the coach, with members from all three churches represented – St Mary’s, St David’s and St Thomas’ – including Jackie, our Vicar, and her husband, Rob, with the remaining members of our party travelling by car.

We set off in fine weather and high spirits and arrived at Bala around 1.00pm.  We enjoyed an excellent lunch at Plas-yn-Dre, and then made the short walk to Christ Church.  Upon entering the church we were supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits, and were made to feel very welcome indeed.  We could not fail to notice how beautiful the church is after its re-ordering.  We were given a short talk by the Vicar, Nia, on how this was achieved.  We then held our Service of Pilgrimage, led by Dorothy of Christ Church, during which we were told the moving story of Mary Jones, and how she had walked twenty-five miles through difficult terrain, so that she could buy a Welsh bible.

Following the service we boarded the coach once again and headed down to the lakeside for light refreshments and an ice-cream before returning home, fully refreshed.  The occasion was thoroughly enjoyed by all who went - our grateful thanks to everyone who made this visit possible.
